At the special request of Sir Elbaid, here are the lyrics to the song I sang at Winter Court.
The Gathering of Lions
Come gather ‘round Lions,
It’s high time ye learned,
Of the heroes who lead us,
And the glory they earned.
I first sing of Cynan,
Whose spear strikes are true,
He slew the demon,
Its heart he ran through.
In the hundreds we fought,
With our swords and spears levelled,
He killed the monster,
In its blood we revelled.
I next tell of Matthew,
A knight unparalleled,
He told us of virtue,
And he taught us all well.
So we marched day and night,
All prepared to die,
By Matthew’s command,
We charge for the light.
Hear tales of Hector,
Six hundred hands tall,
More mountain than man,
He fears nothing at all.
He led us to victory,
On the fields of Bico,
With him we’re matchless,
I pity our foes.
The rest of us Lions,
To you up we look,
We honour you thusly,
With the songs in this book.
You’re combined strength and wisdom,
Has forged a great team,
Through Hell you may lead us,
No Lion will flee.

To stab at the face means, when you are in confrontation with the enemy, that your spirit
is intent on stabbing at his face, following the line of the blades with the point of your long
sword. If you are intent on stabbling at his face, his face and body will become rideable.
When the enemy becomes rideable, there are various opportunities for winning. You must
concentrate on this. When fighting and the enemy's body becomes as if rideable, you can
win quickly, so you ought not to forget to stab at the face. - Miyamoto Musashi
