I wanted to share with you an assignement that Sir Matthew asked his squires to do both me and Emeraud

First Sir Matthew asked us to write a really straight poem about the lions which we both did and gave sir matthew but I dont think Émeraude has it computerized.

Mine is the following

The title: Why are the Lions so good on the battlefield?

Why are the Lions so good on the battlefield?
Is it because it’s their playing field?
Or because they fight
And they bight
To get better?
Or is it because they are the beholder
Of the knowledge forthcoming,
Now, there’s no more time for waiting.

Communication
Is the basis of the quick destruction
Of their enemies
Who worries.
When our eyes meet
That’s the only word we need for the adversary’s defeat.

Devotion
Is a quick work for dedication
Lions are devoted to each other and their duty
Because it’s finality is light’s glory.

Truth
Even the youth
Join the Lions
Seeking glorious actions
But remember, every friendship
Starts by a partnership
Where truth must be it’s first ally
Against any lie.

Faith
Should not be like a wraith
Considered corrupt
Like the word worshiped.
Lions know that believing in oneself and others is hard
But in our business if you don’t, you’re creating your own guild’s graveyard.

Love
Is like a dove
You must care for it, adore it
And share it.
If you defy the most important of principles of all
You will create your own downfall
Lions are like a family
Who stick together in the face of the enemy

Remember those words
Because they may be sharper than any swords.
And may you know why the Lions are so fierce,
When, the enemy lines they pierce.

The next poem, was a bit more difficult. Sir Matthew asked us to write a anglo-saxon poem, where not the verse rimes with each other but you try to find words in the same verse that starts with the same letter,

This was my attempt.

Title: Everyday knighthood

From time to time, the tried in battle
Warrior wields his sword because of words
Spoken, to salvage someone’s honour.
Thy becomes a knight knotted
Of veritable and valuable values.
Thy sword and shield will not scorn
Over a fight may thy be fewer neither will thy flee.
In thy heart, thy controls the heat of battle.
In thy mind, thy meddles with his might
So that thy may be pure of power and prowess
And defeat thy dark dreadful opponent.

As a squire I find that Sir Matthew may ask of us strange things.

I believed he wanted to diversify our training, not only as a warrior on the battlefield but as a true knight which is not only combat. Writing poem was an art and was part of the customs in those times, since most history was oral.

I would like to thank Sir Matthew to ask of us to be more than combatants (warrior) but much more.

I hope these poems may inspire people to write poems as well. Also, many stories were told last winter court, it would be nice to have those who told them make a computerized records of it.
