PostSubject: The Battle of 1012   Wed Feb 12, 2014 10:17 pm

At the request of Sir Targon, here are the lyrics to the song performed by Sir Deagon and myself at this year's winter court.

The Battle of 1012

(Music inspired by: the Age of Oppression by Jeremy Soule, from the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - lyrics inspired by: Malukah)

We drink to the gods, and our kin dead and gone
For the hour of the Lion is now nearly come
We'll drive out the empire, from the land that we own
With our swords and our spears we will take back our home

All hail King Hubert, you are the most wise
In your great honor we face our demise
We're the children of Haldorf, and we’ll fight all our lives
The day Lionshold beckons is the day all of us die

This frozen land is ours, and we'll see it wiped clean
Of the scourge that has shattered our hopes and our dreams
The time fast approaches, when our freedom we claim
No rest will we have ‘till the enemy’s slain

All hail King Hubert, you are the most wise
In your great honor we face our demise
We're the children of Haldorf, and we’ll fight all our lives
The day Lionshold beckons is the day all of us die

Outnumbered we were, in the foothills that day
When the armies amassed we thought there was no way
But fast held the Lions, our shields formed a wall
Through Hell we were led our ranks never did fall

All hail King Hubert, you are the most wise
In your great honor we face our demise
We're the children of Haldorf, and we’ll fight all our lives
The day Lionshold beckons is the day all of us die

In a flash it was over, the whole war we’d won
We were all left to wonder as to what was to come
The scenes of the carnage are burnt in our minds
Though freedom was found there it cost many lives

*Interlude*

All hail King Hubert, you are the most wise
In your great honor we face our demise
We're the children of Haldorf, and we’ll fight all our lives
The day Lionshold beckons is the day all of us die

We drink to the gods, and our kin dead and gone
For the hour of the Lion is now clearly come

is intent on stabbing at his face, following the line of the blades with the point of your long

When the enemy becomes rideable, there are various opportunities for winning. You must
concentrate on this. When fighting and the enemy's body becomes as if rideable, you can
win quickly, so you ought not to forget to stab at the face. - Miyamoto Musashi

was 2012 the year that we were outnumbered 2 to 1 with the gulf, and we won with great slaughter? or was that 2011? No 2011 was the year I missed right, was the gulf 2010?

Was 2012 the year where we had 2 field battles and the first one we won because we delayed their main force long enough that it didn't matter that their main force won because our skirmishers and stuff had already held the flags and points long enough int he first fight and then in the next fight we actually crushed them and held the points throughout the battle? I don't remember a hill on that one though.... wait we fought and died on a hill int he medium battle that same year.

You got it buddy. Smile There were hills, gulfs, swamps, and being outnumbered in that GB. It was one of the more intense ones that I've participated in.

True. This song also reminds me of the 1013 battle in the steep gulf hills, where we held our ground, even tough we were severely outnumbered.

Thank you for posting !
